Carolyn S. Flournoy, 62, of Rogers, passed away Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers. She was born Oct. 22, 1941, in El Dorado, and was the daughter of William C. and Marjorie Roberts Ward.

She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1959, and graduated in 1980, with honors from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in piano and minoring in voice. 

She taught at Sterling Elementary in Sterling, Okla., from 1981 to 1985, Cache High School in Cache, Okla., from 1986 to 1990, MacArthur Junior High School in Lawton, Okla., from 1991 to 1993, and Elmwood Junior High and Kirksey Middle School in Rogers from 1994 to 2003, when she retired.  She and her husband, Scott, moved to Rogers in 1993 from Lawton, Okla.

She was a member of St. Theodore Episcopal Church in Bella Vista and was a member of the American College of Musicians for 35 years.

 Survivors include her husband, Scott Flournoy of Rogers, whom she married May 28, 1959, in Lisbon; four sons, Scott and his wife, Angi, of Little Rock, Shannon and his wife, Robin, of Silver Spring, Md., Shawn and his wife, Cherie, of Rogers and Sterling and his wife, Rebecca, of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Charles Ward of Virginia Beach, Va. and Kenneth Ward of Monroe, S.C.; one sister, Cecelia Hamm of Red Oak, Texas; seven grandchildren, Evan, Sean, Andrew (Drew), Hayley, Caitlyn, Tristian and Emily; and her favorite feline companions, Mary Jane (Kitty Cat) and Tiffany. 

Funeral will be at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, at St. Theodore Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with Father Edwin Sisk officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville under the direction of Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
